Village Vet St. Albans appears to operate as part of the Village Vet group. Reviews describe a practice set up to handle both routine appointments and urgent/out-of-hours situations, including overnight stays and nighttime emergency calls. Owners repeatedly mention being able to book online, being fitted in at short notice (including weekends), and receiving updates when a pet stays in. End-of-life care is a prominent theme in the latest reviews, including being taken to a quieter area, a compassionate euthanasia appointment, and a condolence card plus flower seeds afterwards. One recent review strongly disagrees with the clinic’s fees and record-keeping around a post-surgery discharge, contrasting with many others who describe clear explanations of treatment and payment.

Over the past 33 years we’ve had five dogs, and moved to this vet with our latest rescue. This is, without question, the best veterinary practice we’ve experienced. Booking appointments online is straightforward, and every member of the team is friendly and welcoming, always taking extra care to help our rescue dog feel comfortable, especially on arrival. During the first year we have also needed the emergency service, which was handled quickly and professionally during the night. At each visit we feel heard, and the vet takes time to explain everything clearly without ever making us feel rushed, also taking time to put our pup at ease too. We’re part of the Pet Health for Life plan scheme and feel it offers real value for money. Most importantly, we always feel confident that our dog is in safe hands—and she actually seems happy to visit, which makes the whole experience calm and stress-free. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this branch; the team consistently goes above and beyond. Our most recent visit was with Jenny - we were really impressed with her knowledge & understanding, she was friendly & professional too 10/10

We made the really difficult decision to put down our sweet boy and it was extremely painful but the compassion and level of care we received from Dr Ella was something that made the process significantly easier for us all. I cannot thank her enough for the utmost respect and genuine care she gave to us during one of the most difficult periods we have ever experienced. She is an absolute angel.

Both professional and compassionate, our beloved dog was desperately ill, and we found the Village Vets on a Sunday. Exactly what you need in trying times, caring but honest about the outcome. Thank you for your empathy and compassion, it was greatly appreciated.

I cannot recommend this vets highly enough what Amazing people from reception to the vets .I had e mailed to say we could see our 15 year old cat Cosmo was coming to the end of her life .I had a lovely e mail back saying the vets were ready when we were we made an appointment knowing we wouldn't be bringing Cosmo home.on arriving the receptionist sat us in a quiet area where Cosmo would not be stressed. The vet was so caring for Cosmo and ourselves quick clearly seeing how heart broken we were .Thankyou all so very much Cosmo went on her final journey with compassion and dignity.we also received a lovely card and a packet of flower seeds to scatter in our garden .xx

I wish to express my profound dissatisfaction with the service I received at this veterinary clinic. The reception staff displayed a lack of professionalism and courtesy, which was concerning. Additionally, I felt that my cat was subjected to neglect during our visit. I was quoted a price that I believed to be excessively high, and upon expressing my surprise and disagreement with the charges, I was labeled as aggressive. The behavior exhibited by the front desk staff and the veterinary nurse was disconcerting. My husband and I were asked to leave, accompanied by a dismissive remark indicating that if we were unhappy, we should file a complaint. Furthermore, the veterinarian inaccurately documented in her clinical notes that I had not permitted her to examine my cat post-abdominal surgery—this was untrue, as I explicitly requested the examination before collecting my cat, who was being discharged much earlier than anticipated. The veterinarian referred to my cat as growly and described her as a difficult case, despite her having undergone surgery less than 12 hours prior and being in a state of distress due to an intestinal obstruction. In reality, my cat has a calm temperament, being a Birman breed. The clinic exhibited a lack of understanding regarding the fees associated with the care provided, which should have covered a 24-hour stay, though my cat had only been there for 12 hours. Throughout our entire interaction, the receptionist's demeanor was not only discourteous but also implicitly aggressive. I have had entirely different experiences with veterinary practices such as Village Vet in Hampstead and Highgate in London. I strongly advise against trusting this veterinary practice. I intend to elevate this matter through appropriate channels as it represents a breach of ethical standards and professionalism. It is clear that this clinic prioritizes financial gain over the welfare of the animals in their care.

I can't fault them. They managed to register and fit my cat in late on a Saturday afternoon before they went in to out of hours. The vet was wonderful and explained everything including payment and claims. Etta is now with them overnight after breaking a toe (of all things lol) and they have updated me as promised. I have been looking for a good vet since moving here not too long ago. We will be staying.

Outstanding care received today for our beagle Rosie from Ella. She was absolutely brilliant with her and listened to all our concerns and worked through them methodically. She handled Rosie with kindness and compassion but also knew when it was time to get the job done. Thank you Ella for your expertise and for also making the experience warm and heartfelt. We are truly grateful.
